Coco chips are pieces of husk that create air pockets in the substrate, improving drainage and root oxygenation. Use them as a growing medium, a potting mix component or a decorative mulch that helps retain moisture.
They stand out for their low electrical conductivity (low EC) and a balanced pH, which makes them suitable for direct growing. As high-expansion chips, one compact block yields a good volume of loose, fluffy substrate.
Soak the block in water and wait for it to absorb and expand, then break it apart. Use it on its own or mixed with potting soil, in raised beds, for orchids or even as reptile bedding.
